A Glimpse of the Past!
After reading The Best We Could Do, it left me with many thoughts. Such as how water can be an escape, but also your greatest enemy, or how what your parents PARENTS did were related to the metaphor of tree roots, and many more ideas. But one thing really stuck to me, it was the fact that my parents had a life before becoming my mom and dad, my Ma and Ba. As a child, my parents never really told me any stories from their past. Other than the one where my Dad would chase after my Mom until he married her of course. But as i've gotten older, more and more parts of their past have been revealed to me. Just like how Thi Bui as an adult got to hear stories from Bo and his childhood. My parents lived very interesting lives, things that I couldn't have even thought of.
